The ultimate boys weekend

Mates Weekend is a great chance for very special teen’s to create meaningful friendships, hang out, and feel like regular kids with normal lives. Recently four very special kids had the ultimate boy’s weekend.

The boys who attended Mates Weekend, despite having physical challenges still have very high cognitive ability. They are able to relate, and share their feelings with one another, without the fear of judgement or misunderstanding. It’s the perfect setting to forget their worries and just enjoy.

On the Friday night they were typical boys and indulged in delicious burgers on the house, thanks to Grill’d Malvern followed by ice cream at Cold Rock for dessert. On Saturday they were then taken to see Hawthorn vs. Melbourne thanks to tickets being donated by Hawthorn FC.

Sunday morning kept the AFL spirit alive with a special visit from Greg Champion, the ultimate Aussie Rules musician, along with a performance in the hospice for the very appreciative boys.

It was a fun filled weekend with continuous smiles and thankfulness. Mates Weekend is just one of the small ways Very Special Kids provides kids with a fun weekend free from their usually stressful lives.
