The 2011 Piggy Bank Appeal raises $1,247,979.00!
We are thrilled to announce that through the generosity of Appeal partners and support of the wider community, $1,247,979 has been raised for Very Special Kids.

The Very Special Kids Piggy Bank Appeal is on again from 3 to 25 September 2011.This isthe fourteenth year of the biggest annual fundraiser for Very Special Kids. Businesses, community groups and whole towns get together to organise activities which raise money for this unique Victorian organisation.

Eleven Commonwealth Bank Branches across Melbourne are holding a special day to show their support for the 2011 Very Special Kids Piggy Bank Appeal on Friday 16 September.
What do pigs and football have in common?
Hawthorn AFL legend and Bupa’s Head of Market Development, Peter Hudson, will bring pigs and football together when a 700kg giant piggy named Patrick, an animal farm and a group of local primary school children descend on Bupa’s head office in Hawthorn, this Thursday 8 September.
AFL heavyweights go head to head
Week one of the 2011 AFL Finals Series really ‘kicks off’ with a bang as ‘AFL heavyweights’ Andrew Demetriou and Jeff Kennett go head to head over the controversial topic ‘Does Size Matter….do big Clubs dominate the AFL?’ at a ‘sold out’ breakfast at the MCG ‘the home of football’ at 7am on Friday 9 September to support the 14th annual Piggy Bank Appeal for Very Special Kids.
A running start to the 2011 Piggy Bank Appeal
The 2011 Very Special Kids Piggy Bank Appeal is kicking off with a ‘very special event’ on Friday 2 September from 5.30am. Ultra Marathon runner, Jane Kilkenny is taking three giant (700g) Piggy Banks on a 25 km run from Very Special Kids in Malvern to Fitness Energy in Park Orchards.

High profile debate kicks off Appeal
Gillon McLachlanChief Operating Officer of the Australian Football League,will lead a host of high profile personalities when they go head to head to debate ‘Is Twenty20 football the future of the AFL?’ on Friday 3 September at 7am at the MCG to kick off the 13th annual Piggy Bank Appeal for Very Special Kids.
See pigs on parade on Glenferrie Road
Federal Member for Higgins, Kelly O’Dwyer and Mayor Cr Tim Smith will lead the parade with volunteers from Very Special Kids, local school children, Malvern police and community representatives as they form a ‘Piggy Parade’ from the Malvern Town Hall to Wattletree Road (and return) conducting a street tin rattle, dressed in pig suits and pink accessories to get the community behind this year’s Piggy Bank Appeal.

These are not your average piggy banks. They weigh in at a whopping 700kg, are almost 3 metres tall, 5 metres long and 2 metres wide. They also have a big responsibility – to bring home the bacon with a belly filled with donations for the Very Special Kids Piggy Bank Appeal.

For the past 3 years, Fitness Energy in Park Orchards has kept their treadmills running for 24 hours to raise in excess of $55,000 for Very Special Kids.This year they are adding a new dimension to the event with the Fitness Energy Schools’ Challenge which is being held on Thursday 2 September.
The Doncaster Hotel’s doing it for the kids!
The Doncaster Hotel is holding a ‘Family Fun Day’ on Sunday 8 August from 11am till 4pm and a Simpsons Trivia Night on Thursday 9 September, with all funds raised going to the Very Special Kids Piggy Bank Appeal.
Dance for a cause
The Greensborough RSL is holding a Dinner Dance on Saturday 14 August from 7pm to raise much neededfunds for the Very Special Kids Piggy Bank Appeal. Since 2004, the Greensborough RSL has raised more than $25,000 for the Appeal.
