When a child has a life-threatening illness it impacts on the whole family. Very Special Kids Model of Care encompasses a family-centred approach that recognises the strengths of families and their individuality. 

Care is delivered across different settings including home, hospital and Very Special Kids House and can be accessed from the point of diagnosis through to recovery or bereavement.

Very Special Kids offers a range of flexible programs and services designed to address families’ individual and changing needs and include:

  • Counselling and emotional support
  • Sibling support
  • Trained family support volunteers
  • Bereavement support
  • Respite and end-of-life care at Very Special Kids House.

Very Special Kids provides two volunteer programs; the ‘Friends of Very Special Kids’ and the Family Support Volunteer Program.
