The following events are organised to raise money for Very Special Kids. They are run either by Very Special Kids or by members of the community who have offered to fundraise on our behalf. If you would like to organise an event to help us fundraise please call us on 03 9804 6222 or click here for more info on how to get started! 2010 MARCH Wednesday 3 March to Friday 12 March Friday 19 to Sunday 21 March Friday 14 May Purchase a "celebrity canvas" Over 30 celebrities including Shane Warne, Dermott Brereton, Kylie Minogue, Jessica Mauboy, Hugh Jackman, Kasey Chambers, Pearl Jam, along with other actors, sports personalities and celebrities have gotten together to paint individual canvases for Very Special Kids. They answered the call of a 10 year old Taylor Harrower who sent a heartfelt letter to them following the death of her seven year old brother, Mitchell at children's hospice, Very Special Kids House. The Official Opening is Friday 19 March, 6 - 8 pm at Very Special Kids, 321 Glenferrie Road, Malvern. Entry is by donation and light refreshments will be served. All are welcome. There will be the opportunity to meet the Artists and Special Guest - Alan Fletcher (Dr Karl from Neighbours) WIN one of 2 original artist sketches on opening night. But you must be there to WIN! Click here to download a flyer Exhibition opening days and hours are Friday 19 March, 6pm - 8pm Saturday 20 March, 10am - 5pm Sunday 21 March, 10am - 5pm Flinders Challenge 2010 Flinders Challenge, inaugurated in 2006, is an annual charity day event for Very Special Kids, hosted by five Flinders Golf Club Members. It is an invitation on 18 hole event for men & women and features a special challenge hole. It's at the Flinders Golf Club from 11:30am to 12:45pm. Click here for more information. Win a 3 million pound house in the UK and help Very Special Kids Very Special Kids have developed a very unique partnership with a project in the UK. One of our Very Special Kids families, the Kidd family, who are originally from the UK, have a long time friend, Malcolm Cox who is undertaking a rather unusual project. He has built ‘Poacher’s Retreat’ a £3 million house in located in the Warwickshire countryside, close to local beauty spots such as Stratford-upon-Avon, the heart of Shakespeare Country, in the UK. He has chosen to sell it through a “competition” and has also chosen to support four charities through the project. Very Special Kids is one of the nominated charities which will receive a percentage of the proceeds once the competition has been drawn and the house sold. It’s available online at www.relishrecipes.com.au Taxi, The Inside Story A new book of stories from behind the wheel Taxi Project aims, through the sale of the book [and an exhibition scheduled for March 2010], to build the pride of taxi drivers, raise public perception regarding the positive contribution drivers make to society and raise money for Very Special Kids. Taxi, The Inside Story (RRP $19.95) is available at all good bookstores and online at www.taxiproject.com On the hop walking groups Hosted by “Hoppy” these regular walking groups meet and walk around the Malvern and Caulfield area.
