Renowned artists, Chief Commissioner of Police to aid life-threatened children

Works by renowned artists Charles Blackman, Arthur Boyd and Sidney Nolan will feature in a unique charity art exhibition to be opened by Chief Commissioner of Police Christine Nixon, APM, on Thursday, 11 March.
Nearly 40 of Australia’s most well-known and talented artists will showcase paintings and sculptures at the exhibition, held to raise funds for charity Very Special Kids. A percentage of the proceeds from the sale of all artwork will benefit the charity, which supports families of children with progressive, life-threatening illnesses.
New artist Ian Rogers, a contemporary painter, will also be featured at the exhibition. Rogers recently held a successful, sold-out exhibition in Melbourne and will donate all proceeds from the sale of his artwork in this exhibition to Very Special Kids.
The annual autumn exhibition has become an important event on the Melbourne arts calendar, with a reputation for excellent art at reasonable prices. The exhibition is organised and run by the Friends of Very Special Kids, a volunteer group that raises funds for the charity.
Held in the Friends’ Gallery, which is located in the beautiful Victorian building that is home to Very Special Kids, the exhibition is known for its stunning gallery space, with an abundance of natural light and calm, inviting atmosphere. The exhibition will run from Thursday, 11 March (opening night) until Monday, 15 March.
